Did you ever have a dream that just stayed with you long after the sleep leaves your eyes? Emotions triggered. Memories surfaced. As a collage artist, emotions and memories charge my imagination with energy. That energy leads my hands to gather images called forth by the dream. My intuition, intrigued by my emotions, guides me to pictures, vintage papers, colors, and symbols. Magical? Absolutely!

From the chaos of images on my table, gradually, a collage begins to take form. My own magical world appears. My own reality filled with meaning and emotions. My fine motor skills aren’t as good as they used to be. But, the snip, snip of my scissors finely crafts the characters and backgrounds. The images carry on a conversation as they find their place in the scene. Calling to one another. Sliding under and over one another to create depth in the collage. Colors balance themselves, even surprise me, at times.

The synchronicity of finding a piece of cellophane with random images leftover from another project beside my worktable. One of those images is a bottle with a message inside. A message in a bottle connects with the message in my dream. Synchronicity, a little message from the Universe that I am on my path, making the message even stronger. These connections through synchronicity makes me feel a part of everything and that All is a part of me. The magic within me is also everywhere around me.

In my dream, I drew a picture of a poppy field. A good friend and mentor of mine came to visit. Synchronistically, he had created a painting of poppies. He wanted to share this image with me. When I lived in Baltimore, we often shared our work and talked about our dreams. My friend passed away 12 years ago. The dream brought him back for a visit and brought messages from my subconscious…or maybe the Universe. Poppies. They are a flower symbolizing remembrance. A sweet memory of a dear friend. When I found the message in a bottle image, it felt as though he was bringing the message…you are doing what you love, you are connecting with others to share your work and your message. You are on your path…you GO GIRL!
