“I picked you!, I picked you!,” the ghostly voice cried out from my dream. He stood before me looking haggard and very thin. His hair had turned from silver to bright white. I felt sad, even though, in the dream, I had returned to the house on the river. AT the end of the dream, I held him close as he repeated, “But, I picked you…”
Who picked who?
As I edited the “WINGS” collage for Februllage 2023, I saw the synchronicity. The woman’s hand reaches out to the cardinal-child, offering the gift of a strawberry. He, in turn reaches out towards her to pluck it from her hand. Who picked who and what? I had received the answer in my dream…he picked me. Who is he, you ask? That is my secret. My mystery. But, I can tell you, I haven’t seen him in over 18 years. He’s been dead for two and a half years. But, he still visits in my dreams.
My collages are filled with meaning, story, symbols, and myth. I read my collages when they are complete as if they are tarot cards filled with images, messages, and my SELF. The images I see and create are Universal; hopefully you can read your own story in my collages. I know you can in your own collages, if you are creating from your heart, your intuition, your Soul, your SELF.
This morning, as I looked out of the window upon rising, a bright red, male cardinal looked back at me from the driveway. A sign? A reminder? It is said that “cardinals are often thought of as messengers from the spirit realm, either connecting you with guides or loved ones who have passed on. Many people (anecdotally) speak of seeing cardinals after a loved one passed on, with the bird's bright, eye-catching hue offering comfort and support.”
